LifeSafer Interlock was formed in July of 1991 by the former Directors of Marketing and Engineering of the Interlock Division of Guardian Technologies, Inc., (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cincinnati Microwave, Inc.). This management team and Board of Directors of LifeSafer has over fifty (50) years of combined experience in the Interlock business. The company formed an alliance with Alcohol Countermeasure Systems, Inc., in 1991, an experienced manufacturer of breath alcohol testing equipment, to help design advanced interlock technology and to obtain proprietary alcohol sensing technology. The semi-conductor and fuel cell sensing technology utilized in LifeSafer products is proprietary. The company's strategy is three fold: 1. Maintain its technological leadership position through innovations that elevate standards for the whole industry. 2. Maintain market share long-term through creation of dedicated distribution alliances. 3. Increase shareholder value through leasing and possible investment in its own distribution channels. An example of an on-going investment is the creation of a Management Information System (MIS) software that controls the programming and data retrieval from the devices and electronically links jurisdictions to the monitoring data. LifeSafer Interlock was the first to introduce a product to meet technological standards published by the National Highway Traffic safety Administration in 1992 that are the accepted norms by the most of the states today. LifeSafer has over 50% market share in an industry with six manufacturers of the technology currently. LifeSafer Interlock is a closely-held private company and all of its shareholders serve on its Board of Directors, including the two officers; Richard Freund and Edward Gollar, who manage the day to day operations of the company. LifeSafer has a long-term focus for development of the industry through establishment of a dedicated service provider network of over 25 companies operating in 30 states.
